HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISTER JOHNS!

Jasper Johns, born May 15th, 1930 in Augusta, Georgia, USA celebrates his 75th Birthday this year. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISTER JOHNS! performance by the artist Angelo Ricciardi is inspired by "three flags" (1958), one of Johns’ most noted works, but with a slight modification: the stars substitute for the stripes and visa versa. A new flag is born which we think likely to be the flag that Johns would paint today.

The three new flags will be realized on this occasion of Johns’ birthday in the form of a three layer cake, which will be cut and tasted in Naples at the 404 arte contemporanea Gallery, contemporaneously with other locations in Europe and the USA on the very day of his Birthday.
A homage to the work of a great artist becomes simultaneously a visualization of the (ir)reversible state of things.
