log #145: next code: crossing

The first part of this process was done in german language. From now on there will be biligual contributions. Mirjana (Selakov) and me (Martin Krusche) prefere to manage this next code-stuff as work in progress.

It is based on debates, further sessions and the ideas/inspirations of the artists we invited. This year we set a strong focus on Turkey. I started the whole thing ("next code") there, in Istanbul in 2006, when I was invited to join "exociti": [link] log145a.jpg (2110 Byte)

Deniz Gül, who was with us in these days, will be part of the coming session, step three of three steps. We highlighted Vienna, Beograd and Istanbul as points of reference on the terrain, the European culture was developed as an interchange, not as acts of separation. By the way: Three generations of artists do and did it.

I think, what we found out means: Being different is the normal thing, is the connecting agent. You can see Mirjana here, as she was dancing the Kolo on a riverboat near Zemun last saturday:

Have you ever seen, how big the Dunav is, if you arrive Beograd? A sensation for a hillbilly like me ... again and again. The day before we visited Nikola Dzafo and his ARTklinika- people in Petrovaradin.

They did some remarkable street action as part of our last contribution for "steirischer herbst" 2008: "crime reconstruction". The place Petrovaradin is of special meaning. In 1716 Prince Eugene of Savoyen made it with about 80.000 Habsburg-Soldiers against 150.000 Ottoman Turks. Guess this is still stuff for legends in my country ...

Legends, history, rumors about what Europe was, is, should be ... Ongoing debates with Rasa Doderovic, Director of the Biblioteka Matice Srpske ... Thoughts, journeys, statements ... Im am curious about the clues and conclusions we will find for a moment in this autumn ...
