„Kunst unter Bedingungen der Vernetzung“ ist interdisziplinär ausgerichtet, also von Team-Situationen getragen. Diese Position in der künstlerischen Praxis führt herkömmliche Kunst-Genres mit den Möglichkeiten der sogenannten „Neuen Medien“ zusammen.

Die traditionellen Genres behalten aber eine vorrangige Bedeutung gegenüber dem Computer und den EDV-gestützten Netzwerken. Die reale soziale Begegnung der handelnden Personen ist das primäre Ereignis, wird um Teleworking und Telepräsenz erweitert.

Dieser Zugang steht im Kontrast zu dem, was in Österreich überwiegend als „net art“ dargestellt wird. Wo Vorrang hat, was sich in den Maschinen und in den maschinengestützten Netzwerken tut. Auf diesem Feld der „Netzkunst“ zeigen Handelnde eine starke Tendenz sich als „Avantgarde“ zu verstehen.

Die Idee jemandes Vorhut zu sein spielt auf unserem kulturellen Terrain der „art under net conditions“ überhaupt keine Rolle. Das stärkste Motiv liegt in einer Art langfristiger Erzählung, die als „work in progress“ gehalten ist, wobei die Verzweigung unserer Arbeit ins Internet sich als wesentliche Basis dieses laufenden Prozesses erwiesen hat. Um die Kohärenz dieser Prozesse zu sichern, in denen Theoriearbeit, künstlerische Praxis und soziale Ereignisse zusammengefaßt sind. (Martin Krusche)

What is "art under net conditions"?

The „art under net conditions“ is orientated interdisciplinary, thus carried by team situations. This position in artistic practice unites conventional categories of art with the possibilities of the so-called „new media “.

Traditional categories keep however a priority meaning in relation to the computer and the EDP-based networks. The meeting of the acting persons in real life is the primary event, extended by teleworking and Telepresence.

This stands in the contrast to what is represented in Austria predominantly as „net art“. Where priority has, which happens inside the machines and in the machine-supported networks. At this area of „net art “actions show a strong tendency to be understood as „avant-garde “.

The idea of to be someone’s vanguard plays no role at all on our cultural terrain „art under net conditions“.

The strongest motive lies in a kind of long-term narration, which is held as „work in progresses “, whereby the bypass of our work into internet proved as substantial basis of this current process.
